The Sagem Morpho Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS)

The Morpho AFIS automates processes needed to record and to access fingerprint and palm print information. It provides the necessary software and hardware to acquire, digitize, process, store and retrieve images from tenprint cards or latent evidence cards. It also stores the demographic and the alphanumeric data associated with those images. The AFIS is a sophisticated, minutia-based system that compares fingerprints and identifies possible matches based on minutiae associated with ridge endings and bifurcations and on fingerprint patterns (whorl, arch, loop), the location of the fingerprint core and associated demographic data.
